WEEK-END AND SHORT HORSEBACK RIDING TOURS IN FRANCE, AMONG THE MAIN LOIRE CASTLE.
Destination "Week-end" 2 days/1 night & 3 days/2nights
The following castles compose the itinerary:
- Cheverny, the mansion on which Hergé modelled Captain Haddock’s country house, Marlinspike Hall
- Chambord, the biggest and most prestigious castle in the Loire Valley.
- Villesavin, "the Chambord building site "; the Chambord baillif’s seat in the sixteenth century.
- Le Moulin, a magnificent little-known miniature private castle, home to the Strawberry Museum.
- Beauregard, a beautiful XVIth century castle with its famous portraits'gallery.
Each day follows the same pattern: riding out from the guest house in the morning, picnic lunch at the castle, optional visit and return to the guest house for the evening meal.
There are no motorised transfers on this trail, you will lodge at the same address as your horse every evening.
Destination "Short week" 4 days/3nights
Day 1 : Castle of the Moulin
After meeting Equinature team and horses, you start from the stables at 9:30 through the "Sologne des étangs" toward the Chateau du Moulin. This little private XVth century castle is one of the oldest Loire castle and on of the rare built before Renaissance age. Picnic lunch at the castle and optionnal visit. Back on saddle riding back home through Mur de Sologne village, former "gate" of the Sologne. Arrival at the stables at 5:30 PM. Dinner and night in guesthouse in Courmemin.
Day 2 : Cheverny castle
Start from stables at 9:30 on "Grande Sologne" tracks in the middle of hunting reserves where you may can see deers or wild boars. Arrival in Cheverny at 12:00 with lunch in its private beautiful forest. Car transfert to the castle (duration : 3min) and optionnal visit of its gardens or main house. Meeting again with horses to cross this huge 4000 accres forest. Back in Courmemin at 6:00 PM. Dinner and night in guesthouse in Courmemin.
Day 3 : Villesavin castle
The third day will lead you at the monument usually known as "Chambord's construction cabin". Indeed, Villesavin castle used to be the living place of Chambord's construction chief during the XVIth century. Picnic lunch in castle's garden and optionnal visit. In the afternoon, you will reach Courmemin's village for the last time, crossing Fontaines en Sologne and its magnificent XIIth century church. Dinner and night in guesthouse in Courmemin.
Day 4 : Chambord castle
The biggest and the most beautiful castle of all will be on fourth day program. In the morning, you will ride across the Grande Sologne and its now well known forest to arrive in Bracieux where you will observe the XVIth century hall. After lunch on the banks of the river Nizeron, you will be back on horses for your last riding afternoon trhough the National Park of Chambord, the biggest closed park in Europe. In the middle of the afternoon, you will see the castle rising among the trees, and that's where you will say googbye to your horses. Optionnal visit and car transfert to the stables for free departure from 6:30 PM.
COMFORT AND ACCOMODATION
Duration of the trails - From weekends to 4-day weeks (3 nights)
Riding time - 4 to 6 hours per day.
Public - Comfortable at all three gaits
Horses - Trail horses, Franches Montagnes and Franches Montagnes crosses. Educated using natural horsemanship, sure and sturdy, respectful and healthy in mind and spirit. You will never find a reformed racehrose or carriage race horse at Equinature!
Tack - Trail and English saddles, saddle rugs with bags.
Guide - Ken leads all our trails. Sologne born and bred, a full-time resident, he knows all the nooks and crannies of this magnificent region by heart and his aim is always to help you discover it in the best conditions possible.
Accommodation & meals
In comfortable hotel** or ***, in Twin room. The bed linen is provided such as towels. Single rooms are available on request. Lodging upgrading available on request (4-stars hotels).
Cold lunches are homemade: mixed salads, local cold meats, savoury tarts and breads, traditional goats cheese, seasonal deserts.
The three-course dinner is preceded by an apperitif and includes wine, cheese and coffee. All meals are taken in hotel restaurant and are made from local products. The goats’ cheeses and wines are made in France.

Taxi from/to SNCF Blois Chambord train station.
Extra nights and meals before and after your stay.
Family horse riding tour center since 2006, you are welcome in a friendly atmosphere in the heart or the Loire Valley, to visite the chateaux of the Loire or the lovely Sancerre region.
