A BEAUTIFUL HORSE TRAIL IN THE HEART OF THE BERRY, VISIT OF SANCERRE VINYARDS AND ITS "PAYS FORT".
Program from 2 to 4 days on the following destination
Day 1 : La Borne
After breakfast, you will start your trail by visiting the potters’ village of La Borne. This first morning will give you the chance to get to know your horse. You will ride through the Berry forest to reach the picnic spot, at the national pottery museum of La Borne. After lunch, you will have time to visit the museum and the village potters' workshops. The vehicle support will take any purchases to the guesthouse for you. In the afternoon you will be able to discover the "Pays Fort" region of Sancerre.
Day 2 : Vesvres Tower
You will leave the stables after breakfast for a day across "Sancerre bocages" (woodlands) towards the XIIth century tower of Vesvres. After lunch, inhabitants of the village will offer you a guided tour of the history of this fortified castle from the Middle Ages (45min). Then it’s back into the saddle for a second afternoon across the Pays Fort region to be back at the guesthouse for 6.00 PM.
Day 3 : Sancerre
A beautiful day with changing landscapes. You will cross the huge forests of the now well-known Pays Fort, to reach the Berry fields and finally see Sancerre's west side rising on the horizon. You will have lunch in the Sancerre home-made brewery overhanging valley and vineyards. Sancerre’s brewers have been making their unique beers for over a decade. Once again, the vehicle support will be available to bring any purchases back for you. In the afternoon, you will leave Sancerre by the South to come back to the stables, discovering the Chavignol village, house of the famous goat cheese "Crottin de Chavignol", on the way.
Day 4 : Castle of Boucard
The Castle of Boucard will be on the program for your last day. It's a private little XIVth century castle with a beautiful Renaissance courtyard. You will be able to walk along the castle moat fed by the river Sauldre. One last afternoon with your horse in the Berry lands before coming back to the stables. Free departure? Departure any time after 6:00 PM.
COMFORT & ACCOMODATION
Duration of the trails - From weekends to 4-day weeks (3 nights)
Riding time - 4 to 6 hours per day.
Public - Comfortable at all three gaits.
Horses - Trail horses, Franches Montagnes and Franches Montagne crosses. Educated using natural horsemanship, sure and sturdy, respectful and healthy in mind and spirit. You will never find a reformed racehrose or carriage race horse at Equinature!
Tack - Trail and English saddles, saddle rugs with bags.
Guide - Ken leads all our trails. Sologne born and bred, a full-time resident, he knows all the nooks and crannies of this magnificent region by heart and his aim is always to help you discover it in the best conditions possible.
Accommodation & meals
You will stay in picturesque guest-house in Crezancy en Sancerre. The bed linen is provided, please bring your own towels. Single rooms are available on request.
Cold homemade lunches (mixed salads, local cold meats, savoury tarts and breads, traditional goats cheese, seasonal deserts) ; you also may have it in local restaurants : depends on stewardship vehicule availability.
The three-course dinners are provided by the guest-house, home made with local products . Goat cheese and wine are AOC Sancerre and "Crottin de Chavignol".
Single room extra.
Taxi from/to Bourges train station.
Supplementary nights and meals before and after your stay.
Family horse riding tour center since 2006, you are welcome in a friendly atmosphere in the heart or the Loire Valley, to visite the chateaux of the Loire or the lovely Sancerre region.
